Volleyball wins Richmond Invitational title

The New Palestine volleyball team swept through the day Saturday to repeat as Richmond Invitational champions. The Dragons went 4-0 on the day, dropping just one set en route to the title. The Dragons opened the day with a 25-14, 25-16 victory over Seton Catholic. Hayden Ramsey had seven kills. Josie Corbett and Natalie Sevier each had six kills, while Sevier also tallied 10 digs. Sam Gooding had 22 assists. The Dragons then beat Winchester 25-18, 25-15. Corbett tallied eight kills, while Sevier had seven kills and six digs. Ramsey had five kills and five blocks and Caylee Brown four kills. Gooding tallied 20 assists, while Azure Flagle had six digs. The Dragons finished pool play with a 25-11, 25-4 victory over Purdue Poly. Cayanna Brown had six kills. Grace Tippit and Caylee Brown tallied five each. Corbett also had five kills and three aces, while Kennedy Armstrong tallied eight assists. In the championship match, the Dragons beat Richmond 25-8, 23-25, 15-6. Corbett had 14 kills. Ramsey added 12 kills and six blocks. Caylee Brown had 11 kills on 16 attempts with no errors for a phenomenal .688 hitting percentage. Sevier had six kills, eight digs and two aces. Gooding tallied 33 assists. Flagle had 14 digs, while Kyndra Monteith and Makaeli Johnson each had six. The Dragons improved to 26-2 on the season with the title. They return home Monday to face Noblesville.
