The New Palestine cross country teams competed under the lights Friday at the Nike Town Twilight meet at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. The Dragons boys placed eighth of 25 teams, tallying 251 places. Mt. Vernon (27), Roncalli (124) and Greenfield-Central (147) took the top three spots. Jacob Cooper finished 14th overall in 16:40.99. Gavin Smith was 44th (17:44.00), Mike Bauer 52nd (17:54.92), Carson Cooper 65th (18:07.67) and Hayden Flanagan 105th (18:46.15). The Dragons girls were eighth out of 14 teams with 195 places. Cathedral (80), Mt. Vernon (112) and Greenwood (123) were the top three. Abby Journay led the Dragons girls with an 18th-place finish (20:59.4). Taylor Burke was 36th (21:43.0), Taylor Stone 51st (22:36.1), McKenzie Hacker 54th (22:47.4) and Evelyn Kell 57th (22:53..3).
