New Palestine High School

The New Palestine girls soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over Roncalli on the Dragons' Senior Night. Tylar Whitaker's dramatic goal in the 79th minute was the difference, as she dribbled past several Roncalli defenders into the open, then fired a shot past the Royals' goalkeeper to give the Dragons the lead. Whitaker tallied a brace, as she also scored in the ninth minute, coming seconds after Roncalli had taken a 1-0 lead. McKenzie Hacker had a strong game in goal, making several saves to preserve the victory. The Dragons drew the JV game 1-1. The Dragons finish the regular season 11-5. They open sectional play Oct. 10 at home against either East Central or Richmond.
