CC teams compete in HHC meet

The New Palestine cross country teams competed in Saturday's Hoosier Heritage Conference meet at Shelbyville, with the Dragons boys finishing fifth and the girls sixth in the eight-team meet. In the boys meet, Jacob Cooper finished ninth (16:56.93) to earn All-Conference honors. Mike Bauer was 22nd (17:40.95), Gavin Smith 30th (18:08.47), Carson Cooper 32nd (18:26.74) and Hayden Flanagan 35th (18:36.62). Mt. Vernon won with 24 places, while Yorktown (67) and Pendleton Heights (87) rounded out the top three. The Dragons tallied 117 places, finishing behind Greenfield-Central (92) but ahead of Delta (168). In the girls race, Abby Journay finished sixth to earn All-HHC honors, running the 5K in 20:56.92> Taylor Burke was 18th (21:57.97), Taylor Stone 31st (23:04.40), Addison Uhl 36th (23:15.94) and Heidi Bloomer 41st (23:28.57) Pendleton Heights won the title with 46 places, followed by Mt. Vernon (61) and Greenfield-Central (101). The Dragons tallied 129, finishing behind Yorktown (110) and New astle (121), but ahead of Delta (166) and Shelbyville (188). The Dragons next compete in the Nike Town Twilight meet Oct. 5 at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute.
