Two girls wrestlers place at Northview

The New Palestine girls wrestling team had two athletes place in Saturday's Northview Invitational. At 170, Julia Champ finished fifth. She lost her first match by decision, but was able to wrestle back into the fifth place match with falls over North Montgomery's Chloe Douglas and Brebeuf's Minna Malcolmson. She then won the fifth-place match by fall over Columbia City's Bralynn Leazier. At 145, Madisyn Covington finished eighth. She dropped her first-round match by fall, then defeated Warren Central's Shamiah Long in overtime before having to default her final two matches. At 138, Jillian Champ won her first match by fall over Greenfield-Central's Molly Hutchinson, then dropped her next two matches. The Dragons are next in action Saturday at Southport.
