CC teams run at Shelbyville

The New Palestine cross country teams competed in Saturday's Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational at Blue River Park. The Dragons boys finished fifth in the gold division race, tallying 141 places. Roncalli (71), Wapahani (95), Guerin Catholic (99) and Western (101) finished ahead of the Dragons. The Dragons were ahead of Madison (146) and Hamilton Heights (166) among other teams in the 14-team field. Jacob Cooper finished 11th in 17:05.24. Gavin Smith was 20th (17:46.31), Mike Bauer 21st (17:46.52), Carson Cooper 42nd (18:30.29) and Gabe Silvey 53rd (18:47.95). The Dragons girls placed ninth out of 12 teams with 208 places. Guerin Catholic (74), Hamilton Heights (77) and Cathedral (85) were the top three. Taylor Burke was 22nd (21:23.95), Taylor Stone 43rd (22:34.88), Heidi Bloomer 45th (22:57.17), Bri Journay 55th (23:18.32) and McKenzie Hacker 59th (23:30.01). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 28 for the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet, which will also be at Blue River Park.
