Volleyball sweeps PH, improves to 20-0

The New Palestine girls volleyball team extended the best start in school history Thursday, sweeping Pendleton Heights 25-17, 25-22, 25-15. The Dragons improved to 20-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference with the victory. The Dragons used a 9-0 run in the first set on Samantha Gooding's serve to take a 19-11 lead and cruise to the victory. They pulled ahead by scoring the last four points of a back-and-forth second set, before Kyndra Monteith served a six-point run to put away the final set. On the night she was recognized for 1,000 career digs, junior Azure Flagle added 17 more to her tally, leading a strong defensive effort. Monteith added 10 digs. Natalie Sevier also had 10 digs and nine kills. Hayden Ramsey had another big night at the net with 15 kills and four blocks. Josie Corbett added eight kills and four digs. Caylee Brown had seven kills. Gooding tallied 37 assists and seven digs. The Dragons are next in action Monday at Mooresville.
