The New Palestine volleyball team rallied in each of the three sets Tuesday against Delta, but staged an epic rally in the final set of a 25-22, 25-23, 27-25 victory over the visiting Eagles. The Dragons trailed 22-12 in the third set when they began to rip off a mini-rally on Azure Flagle's serve. Hayden Ramsey led the rally with several blocks in the set. They cut the deficit to 22-17 before conceding a point. After trading points, Delta led 24-20 when Josie Corbett headed to the service line. Again, a pair of blocks by Ramsey helped the Dragons even the set at 24-24. After Delta scored to earn a set point, the Dragons won a side-out, and then Josie Corbett served an ace to set up match point. There, Natalie Sevier drilled a cross-court shot to deliver the victory for the Dragons. The No. 5 Dragons improved to 18-0 (2-0 HHC) with the victory. "What a tremendous comeback," Dragons coach Kelli Gabehart said. "We battled all night long against a scrappy Delta team. The jumped out early in the third set. They had us down 10 points 22-12. We rallied back after a timeout and won the match 27-25. That is the greatest comeback from a team I’ve coached. That took a lot of heart, grit, and mental toughness. I'm so proud of my group. They are winners." Ramsey had a monster night at the net with seven kills and eight blocks - many of which came in the third-set rally. Sevier had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. Corbett added 11 kills and six digs. Samantha Gooding quarterbacked the attack with 28 assists and nine digs. Kyndra Monteith led the Dragons' back line with 12 digs and two aces. Makaeli Johnson added eight digs, while Flagle had seven digs and two aces. The Dragons also won the JV match 25-15, 25-17. The Dragons are next in action Wednesday at Perry Meridian.
