CC teams second at Marion

The New Palestine cross country teams both finished second at Saturday's Marion Invitational. The Dragons girls tallied 70 places, tying Concord but claiming second on a higher sixth runner's place. West Noble won the 13-team race with 59. Abby Journay led the Dragons with a ninth-place finish (21:34.9), with Addison Uhl finishing 10th (21:46.1) and Taylor Burke 11th (21:55.6). Taylor Stone was 23rd (22:28.8) and Evelyn Kell 26th (22:40.1). The Dragons boys narrowly missed a victory, as they tallied 77 places, one back of winner West Noble (76). Fort Wayne Dwenger was third out of 12 teams with 87 places. Jacob Cooper led the Dragons, finishing fifth (17:04.6), while Gavin Smith was eighth (17:22.9). Mike Bauer placed 12th (17:32.6), Carson Cooper 17th (17:38.7) and Hayden Flanagan 36th (18:31.8). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 14 at the Whiteland Invitational.
