CC teams compete in regional

The New Palestine cross country teams competed at Saturday's Rushville regional. The Dragons girls placed eighth, while the boys placed 10th. The top five teams and top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams move on to next week's semistate at Shelbyville. The Dragons girls tallied 200 places, finishing ahead of Connersville (205) and Rushville (244). Franklin Central (20) won the regional title. Alexis Baynes led the Dragons with a 33rd-place finish, running the 5K course in 21:34 in her final high school meet. Junior Courtney Study finished 34th in 21:42.8. Cami Massari was 43rd (22:13.9), Amelia Stone 63rd (23:32.2) and senior Edie Schwarb 71st (23:53.4). The Dragons boys tallied 255 places to finish 10th, 10 back of ninth-place Centerville. Franklin Central won the regional with 37 places. Jacob Collins led the Dragons with a 53rd-place finish (18:27.0). Senior Isaac Poetz was 59th (18:32.4), Jacob Cooper 66th (18:45.2), Gavin Smith 67th (18:48.0) and Sam Ragsdale 70th (18:54.4).
