CC teams compete at MV, county meets

The New Palestine cross country teams competed in Saturday's Mt. Vernon Invitational. The Dragons finished sixth of 11 teams in the boys meet with 179 places. Mt. Vernon (26), Bloomington South (85) and Whiteland (91) won the meet. Jake Cooper finished 23rd overall to lead the Dragons (17:29.01). Mike Bauer was 35th (17:52.85), Gavin Smith 41st (18:11.25), Carson Cooper 56th (18:57.71) and Sam Ragsdale 58th (19:00.18). The Dragons girls finished sixth of seven teams with 150 places. Cathedral (59), Mt. Vernon (65) and Whiteland (72) took the top three spots. Addison Uhl led the Dragons, finishing 25th (21:56.46). Taylor Stone was 30th (22:53.28), Taylor Burke 32nd (22:54.75), Bri Journay 35th (23:06.26) and McKenzie Hacker 41st (23:32.51). In addition, the Hancock County results were tallied. The Dragons boys finished third of four schools, as MV scored 15, Greenfield-Central 53 and the Dragons 85. Eastern Hancock tallied 99. Cooper was 13th in the Hancock County portion of the meet. In the girls meet, MV won with 23 places, G-C tallied 46 and the Dragons were third with 61. EH was incomplete. The Dragons are next in action Sept. 6 in the Marion Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University.
