The New Palestine girls soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Mt. Vernon in Thursday's Class 3A sectional semifinal at New Palestine. The Dragons finished the season with a 10-6-1 record. The two teams played an even, scoreless first half. Tylar Whitaker had the best chance for the Dragons as she got loose in the area and took a shot from 12 yards, but it went wide of the frame. Grace Hasenkamp made a pair of first-half saves to keep the game scoreless. The Dragons conceded a goal in the 46th minute on a free kick from just outside the corner of the penalty area. Two minutes later, the Dragons conceded again after turning the ball over in their defensive third. MV later scored on a corner kick in the 67th minute. The Dragons see out a senior class that includes Lydia Sams, Raeann Gavin, Anna Luker, Mia Knoop, Kaylee Beckner, Bethany Aldridge, Sydney Miller, Maggie Murphy, Maddy Potter, Izzie Myers and Hasenkamp, who tallied four consecutive winning seasons in their careers.
