The New Palestine girls soccer team had a strong opener Monday at Mooresville, beating the host Pioneers 6-3. Gabby Brown, playing her first game after missing nearly a year with an injury, scored a hat trick to lead the Dragons. Tylar Whitaker added a goal and four assists. Rylee Hurst scored a goal and added an assist. Sydnee Frank tallied a goal. The Dragons' JV won 4-3, with Frank scoring all four goals, including a late penalty kick to seal the win. The Dragons (1-0) are next in action Saturday against Lawrence North, with a 10 a.m. JV kickoff, followed by the varsity at 11:30 a.m.
