CC teams finish sixth in HHC meet

The New Palestine cross country teams both finished sixth at Saturday's Hoosier Heritage Conference meet at Blue River Park in Shelbyville. The Dragons boys tallied 141 places, finishing well ahead of seventh-place Shelbyville (216) and eighth-place New Castle (225). Mt. Vernon (35), Greenfield-Central (39), Pendleton Heights (75), Yorktown (111) and Delta (133) took the top five spots. Cody Crawmer led the Dragons with a 19th-place finish and a time of 17:59.3. Gavin Smith was 24th (18:19.7), Jacob Collins 30th (18:37.5), Jake Cooper 31st (18:50.8) and Isaac Poetz 37th (19:14.5). The Dragons girls tallied 124 places, finishing ahead of Greenfield-Central (157) and Shelbyville (214). Mt. Vernon (50), Pendleton Heights (56), Yorktown (94), New Castle (104) and Delta (108) took the top five spots. Courtney Study became an All-HHC runner with an eighth-place finish. She ran the 5K course in 21:02.6. Cami Massari was 23rd (22:21.0), Alexis Baynes 27th (22:42.0), Edie Schwarb 28th (22:43.7) and Heidi Bloomer 38th (23:36.8). The Dragons next compete in the Oct. 8 sectional at Mt. Vernon.
