The New Palestine boys soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision Thursday at Pendleton Heights to close the regular season. The Dragons had a couple of early chances, including a shot from the 18 by Chase Martin in the 21st minute, but were unable to beat the PH keeper. The Arabians scored in the 35th minute on a ball crossed in from along the goal line far-post that led to the finish. Brendan Tanksley and Cole Christopher both played dangerous balls into the box in the final minutes of the half, but the PH goalkeeper was able to snare both. Andon Colclazier had a shot from the top of the box stopped in the opening minutes of the second half. PH was awarded a penalty kick in the 48th minute and scored to make it a 2-0 game. PH added goals from the run of play in the 50th and 59th minutes. The Dragons responded in the 63rd minute. Drew Potter sent a free kick from midfield toward the goal, where Elliott Canova touched it into the net to cut the deficit to 4-1. The Dragons generated a handful of chances in the closing minutes - Canova's hard shot from 10 yards out from the left side of the box being the most dangerous - but the scoreline held. The Dragons finish the regular season 8-7-1. They open sectional play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shelbyville against either the host school or Greenfield-Central. The Dragons JV played to a 1-1 draw. Kendall Steele scored the Dragons' goal. The JV finished the season with a 4-5-6 record.
