The New Palestine boys soccer team scored two goals in the final six minutes to rally and earn a 2-2 draw with visiting Franklin. In the 75th minute, Andon Colclazier laid the ball off to Elliott Canova in the right side of the box on a buildup from midfield. Canova buried a far-post shot for his 14th goal of the year to draw the Dragons within one. Three minutes later, Canova brought the ball up the right side on a buildup with Cohen Wintin. Canova crossed the ball in to Cody Crawmer, who drilled a shot from the top of the box into the far-post netting to draw the match level. In the interim, Dragons goalkeeper Jake Wells - who came on in relief of Blake Bobrow for the final 20 minutes as the Dragons made a handful of tactical moves - made a leaping save in the 77th minute, parrying a well-placed shot over the bar. The Dragons spent the game trailing, as Franklin scored off a free kick five minutes into the contest. Colclazier had three good looks to draw the equalizier in the first half - a looping shot from 20 yards that missed just high, a far-post rocket from the 18 that went just wide of the post and another long look that barely missed the frame. Lennon Pottle also had a shot from in tight that forced a save from the Franklin goalkeeper in the final minutes of the half. Franklin scored two minutes into the second half to extend its lead. The Dragons had their best chance to that point in the 53rd minute. Off a corner kick, both Canova and Wintin flicked the ball through far-post to Wintin in the center of the box, but the Franklin keeper got a fingertip on his shot and was able to deflect it over the line for a corner. The Dragons are now 8-6-1 on the season. They finish the regular season Thursday at Pendleton Heights with a 5:30 p.m. JV kick, followed by the varsity. The Dragons dropped the JV match 1-0.
