The New Palestine volleyball team improved to 17-2 Monday with a 27-25, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of Franklin Central. The Dragons were tremendous defensively, as Honour Mallory and Azure Flagle had 12 digs each. Kyndra Monteith had 10 digs. Prior to the match, Isabella Gizzi was honored for 1,000 career assists. She added 37 to that total and added eight digs. Lauren Wilson tallied 17 kills and eight digs. Rachel Burke had seven kills, while Reagan Kleiman had eight kills and three blocks. "Good win against one of the toughest blocking teams we’ve seen," Dragons assistant coach Jamie Morris said. "Both Rachel and Reagan did a great job at the net both blocking and getting kills we needed after some long rallies. Lauren was a terminator in the front row for us tonight. All the defensive players were scrappy all night keeping the ball up, also Isabella distributed the ball well freeing up our offense from the block when she was able to." The Dragons also won the JV match 25-17, 25-11 and the C team match 25-9, 25-23. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at home against HHC co-leader Yorktown. The JV match begins at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity. The C team will also face Hamilton Southeastern at 6 p.m.
