Study's third-place finish leads CC teams at county

Courtney Study's third-place finish led the New Palestine cross country teams in Tuesday's Hancock County meet at Eastern Hancock. Study ran the 5K course in 21:51 to lead the Dragons, who finished third of three teams in the event with 50 places. Mt. Vernon won with 24, while Greenfield-Central tallied 49. Eastern Hancock did not field a team. In addition to Study's third-place finish, Alexis Baynes was eighth (23:43), giving the Dragons two Top 10 finishers. Cami Massari finished 11th (24:33), Heidi Bloomer 13th (24:49) and Amelia Stone 15th (25:14). The Dragons boys placed fourth, as G-C won with 29 places, MV tallied 36, EH 88 and the Dragons 91. The Dragons were led by Cody Crawmer's 16th-place finish (18:56). Jake Cooper finished 17th (18:59), Gavin Smith 23rd (19:27), Connor Lapenta 27th (19:57) and Sam Ragsdale 28th (20:00). The Dragons next compete Saturday in the Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational at Blue River Park.
