New Palestine High School

The New Palestine girls tennis team finished its regular season Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Greenfield-Central. The Dragons finished the regular season 9-6, with a 5-2 mark in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. The Dragons finished third in the league. The Dragons swept the singles in straight sets, as Kaitlyn Mitchell won 6-1, 6-2, Bethany Blachly had a 6-0, 6-2 victory and Maizy Haynes posted a 6-0, 6-1 win. At doubles, Amelia Schneider/Riley Watts won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2. At No. 1, Josephine Harvey/Emily Appleby dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision. The Dragons JV won 10-1. Winners in the first round were Kenzie Kleiman (8-4), Sydney Walter (8-0), Sophie Munson (8-2), Amelia Rojowski/Elliott Graham (8-2) and Ellie Armstrong/Alyssa Appleby (8-0). The Dragons open sectional play Wednesday at Mt. Vernon against the host Marauders.
