New Palestine High School has named Juan Diaz DeLeon as its new varsity boys soccer coach. Diaz DeLeon was officially named coach Monday after being approved by the school board, but he has already been working in the capacity of head coach. He served last season as the head coach of the New Palestine Junior High boys soccer team. He has been coaching for more than two decades, including a long time coaching in the New Palestine United program at the recreational, academy, travel and junior high levels. He also has played at the college and semi-pro levels. Diaz DeLeon takes over for Brett Canova, who retired from coaching after four years at the helm of the Dragons' varsity program and led the team to two Hoosier Heritage Conference titles in the last three seasons.
