Softball blanked by Plainfield

The New Palestine softball team was blanked 4-0 by Plainfield Monday evening at NPHS. The loss was the Dragons' first time being shut out since the 2022 season - a span of 48 games. The teams were scoreless into the fifth, when Plainfield scored three runs on three doubles and a sacrifice fly. The Quakers added a run in the seventh on a solo homer. Courtney Study and Cailyn Hurst allowed four hits - Study gave up three hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings. She struck out four. Hurst allowed one run and one hit in 2 2/3 innings of relief, striking out three. The Dragons were held to three hits - a sixth-inning double by Allie Blum and singles by Sydney Oliver and Paige Ernstes. The Dragons are now 17-3 on the season. They next play Thursday at Connersville.
