Boys track finishes fifth at HHC

The New Palestine boys track and field team scored 76.5 points Thursday to finish fifth in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet. Mt. Vernon won the title with 172 points, followed by Greenfield-Central (128.5), Yorktown (95), Delta (80.5), NP (76.5), Pendleton Heights (40), Shelbyville (26.5) and New Castle (5). Paxton Holmes was one of the Dragons' top finishers, placing third in the 300 hurdles, while Will Bardonner was seventh. David Pack placed third in the 400. Dylan Dragoo was seventh in the race. Quinn Crawmer was third in pole vault. Brock Brownfield also placed third in the shot put. Eli Wasson was fourth in the 200. Placing fifth were Colton Spears in the 100, Paxton Holmes in the 110 hurdles and Jake Cooper in the 800 and 1600. Finishing sixth were Brock Brownfield in the discus and Spears in the high jump. Brock Sennott was eighth in long jump. The Dragons were strong in the relays. Charlie Rigsbee, Cooper, Dylan Dragoo and Pack finished second in the 4x400 relay. Bardonner, Wasson, Desmond Palmer and Spears were third in the 4x100 relay. Daniel Davis, Gavin Smith, Cole Christopher and Rigsbee were fourth in the 4x800. The Dragons next compete in next Thursday's sectional.
