Rigg Mahurin pitched a two-hit complete game and also delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning, leading the New Palestine baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Pendleton Heights. Mahurin took a no-hitter into the seventh, when PH scored a run on two hits and a walk, but he ended the game by inducing a groundout to third. The Dragons generated all of their offense with two outs in the fifth. With Henry Thorpe aboard, Nic Deering reached on an infield single to put runners on the corners. Jacob Morris then gave the Dragons a lead with a single to left. Jackson Kamp followed with a base hit to right to plate another run on the next pitch. After a balk put both runners in scoring position, Mahurin delivered a single to center to put NP up 4-0. Mahurin struck out nine batters in the victory. He walked three. The Dragons had nine hits, led by Deering, who was 3-for-3 with a run. Mahurin was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Morris, Kamp, Gavin Neal and Henry Thorpe also had hits. The Dragons are now 17-4 on the season and 9-3 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. They next play Friday at home against Perry Meridian.
