Cross country finishes eighth, 11th at FlashRock

The New Palestine cross country teams had solid performances at Saturday's FlashRock Invitational at Northview Christian Church in Carmel. The Dragons girls finished eighth of 12 teams in the invitational race with 174 places, one back of seventh-place Connersville and well ahead of ninth-place Fort Wayne Snider (218). Norwell (61), Lebanon (87) and Fort Wayne Canterbury (89) took the top three spots. Courtney Study finished 10th in 21:46.49. Alexis Baynes finished 39th (23:13.32), Cami Massari 42nd (23:18.33), Edie Schwarb 50th (23:41.47) and Heidi Bloomer 53rd (23:46.07). The Dragons boys finished 11th of 21 teams in the invitational race with 306 places, 17 ahead of 12th-place Huntington North and 34 back of 10th-place Marion. Lebanon (108), Avon (110) and Crawfordsville (112) took the top three spots. Gavin Smith was 43rd in 18:23.03. Jacob Collins was 57th (18:50.58), Jacob Cooper 62nd (18:52.16), Isaac Poetz 82nd (19:23.29) and Sam Ragsdale 93rd (19:46.22). The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at the Hancock County meet at Eastern Hancock.
