The New Palestine boys soccer team had a strong start, but conceded three goals in the final 20 minutes Thursday, falling to Greenfield-Central 3-0. The Dragons moved to 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. Elliott Canova had the best chance in the opening half, taking a rip from inside the box, which was blocked by the Greenfield-Central defense. Blake Bobrow had a number of saves, including reaching behind him to snatch a shot off the line in the 11th minute. In the second half, G-C controlled possession early, but Drew Potter and Danny Davis both had defensive saves to keep the game scoreless. G-C took advantage of a loose ball in the box that bounced to one of its players in the goalmouth to take a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute. The Cougars added a goal on a free kick in the 62nd and another on a header off a free kick in the 77th minute. The Dragons won the JV game 2-0 on a goal by Will Bardonner and another goal on a dangerous free kick played into the box by Eli Martin. The Dragons next play Saturday at Delta. A JV half will begin at noon, with the varsity kickoff at 1 p.m.
