Tennis falls to Whiteland

The New Palestine girls tennis team played a tight match Monday at Whiteland, falling 3-2. The Dragons' wins came from Kaitlyn Mitchell at No. 1 singles, who won 6-3, 6-4, and Maizy Haynes, who posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles. Freshman Riley Watts played her first varsity singles match and played a strong second set, falling 6-1, 7-5. At doubles, Josephine Harvey/Emily Appleby fell 6-1, 6-0, while Amelia Schneider/Amelia Rojowski dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision. The Dragons are now 3-1 on the season. They next play Tuesday at home against Greenfield-Central.
