The New Palestine boys tennis team had individual two runners-up at Saturday's Hancock County meet, hosted by the Dragons but played at New Palestine Junior High. At No. 3 singles, Brady Torzewski won his first match 7-6 (2), 6-1 over Luke Schilling of Eastern Hancock to advance to the final. He dropped the championship match 6-0, 6-0 to Matthew Hyre of Greenfield-Central. At No. 2 doubles, Will Hahn/Joey McPike won their semifinal match 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 in a super-tiebreaker over Payton Stephens and Bo Dixon of Eastern Hancock. They fell in the final 6-2, 6-3 to Mt. Vernon's Max Orelup and Matthew Jones. At No. 2 singles, Arjomand Khokhar finished third. He dropped his first match 6-1, 6-1 to Greenfield-Central's Chris Long. He won the third-place match 7-5, 1-0 (inj. def.) against Eastern Hancock's Luke Fletcher. The Dragons finished fourth at No. 1 singles - where Moses Haynes battled in a 6-1, 7-5 loss to eventual county champion Adam Koon of Mt. Vernon in the first round, but injury defaulted in the consolation match - and No. 1 doubles. As a team, the Dragons finished fourth with eight points. Mt. Vernon and Greenfield-Central shared the title with 21 points each. Eastern Hancock was third with 10 points. The Dragons are back in action Monday at home against Pendleton Heights. The Dragons JV won the county title, winning at all five spots. Brendan Sego, Joel Dorval, Luke Bartusek, Dawson Lynch/Nick Parrett and Tyler Wilson/Andrew Hahn all won their individual titles.
