CC teams compete at Marion

The New Palestine cross country teams competed in the Marion Invitational, one of the largest cross country meets of the year in the state, Saturday morning at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Dragons boys finished eighth of 17 teams in the purple (large school) division with 224 places. Leo (103), Richmond (118) and West Noble (127) took the top three spots. Cody Crawmer led the Dragons with a 26th-place finish (17:58.5). Gavin Smith was 31st (18:01.7), Jacob Cooper 37th (18:05.5), Jacob Collins 56th (18:50.1) and Isaac Poetz 79th (19:21.0). The Dragons girls finished 14th of 19 teams in the purple (large school) division with 306 places. Maconaquah (85), Angola (123) and Leo (143) took the top three spots. Courtney Study finished 18th (21:22.4) to lead the Dragons. Cami Massari was 57th (22:52.9), Alexis Baynes 62nd (23:01.3), Edie Schwarb 84th (24:08.3) and Heidi Bloomer 89th (24:19.6). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 10 at the Whiteland Invitational at Break-O-Day Elementary in Whiteland.
