Volleyball downs G-C to win HHC opener

The New Palestine volleyball team went on the road Thursday and downed Greenfield-Central 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 to win its Hoosier Heritage Conference opener. The Dragons are now 7-1 on the season and 1-0 in HHC play. Freshman Azure Flagle had a big night defensively with 12 digs. Honour Mallory added 11 digs. Makaeli Johnson tallied five. Lauren Wilson led the attack with nine kills, six aces and seven digs. Bella Brownfield added eight kills and five digs. Reagan Kleiman had five kills and Nyla Lewis four. Isabella Gizzi tallied 25 assists and five aces. "That was a great win against a quality opponent," Dragons coach Kelli Gabehart said. "Once we found our rhythm in the second set, we were able to go on several scoring runs. We had 12 team aces tonight which helped separate us from Greenfield. Reagan controlled the net, handling some overpasses. Freshmen Azure Flagle had a big night." The Dragons won the JV match 25-12, 25-11. The Dragons are next in action Wednesday at home against Lutheran.
