Girls swimming finishes third in HHC

The New Palestine girls swimming and diving team finished third in Saturday's Hoosier Heritage Conference meet, with multiple swimmers turning in career-best swims. The Dragons tallied 262.5 points, finishing behind Greenfield-Central (527) and Delta (369). NP finished ahead of Mt. Vernon (226.5), Yorktown (201), Pendleton Heights (189), New Castle (185) and Shelbyville (133). The Dragons had two runners-up. The 200 free relay team of Adrianna Huston, Lillie Abernathy, Chloe Siler and Sullie Leavell placed second. That quartet also placed third in the 400 free relay. Isabelle Tull was also second in diving, with Lauren Appleby eighth. Abernathy was third in the 100 breaststroke. In the 50 freestyle, Leavell was fourth and Siler fifth. Huston also had a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle. Huston was seventh in the 200 freestyle. In the 100 butterfly, Leavell was seventh and Abernathy eighth. The 200 medley relay team of Rachel Hamilton, Piper Schaefer, Isabelle Singer and Emily Appleby also finished seventh. The Dragons next compete Jan. 18 at home against Connersville. The Dragons boys will take to the pool Jan. 13 to host their HHC meet.
