Golf wins county title

The New Palestine girls golf team clinched the Hancock County championship Tuesday at Hawk's Tail, shooting 187 to win the four-way match by 20 strokes. The Dragons' 187 bested Mt. Vernon's 207 and Greenfield-Central's 223. Eastern Hancock fielded an incomplete team. Zoe Nelson led the Dragons with a 41, finishing second overall. Katie Kelley added a 46, which was fourth overall. Kate Stanfield's 48 was fifth and Lily Kirchner's 52 placed sixth. Lauren Appleby tied for seventh overall with a 53, the Dragons' fifth score. The Dragons are next in action Thursday at Cathedral.
