Wrestlers go 3-2 at Penn

The New Palestine boys wrestling team, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, went 3-2 at Saturday's Penn Invitational. The Dragons won the first two matches, starting with a 41-27 victory over Homestead and a 42-29 win over Fort Wayne Snider. In the third round, the Dragons fell 48-19 to Penn. NP then bounced back to beat Goshen 49-27. In the final match, the Dragons dropped a razor-thin 34-33 decision to Mishawaka. Two Dragons went 5-0 on the day - Gunner Butt (126) and Peyton Hornsby (138). Three more went 4-1 - Cole Vandygriff (132), Bryce Doss (144) and Colin Whetsel (190/215). Three more went 3-2 - Blake Doss (106), Brandon Brees (190/215) and William Glesing (285). The Dragons are now 12-3 on the season. They next compete Wednesday at home in a dual meet with Warren Central. The Dragons also found out Sunday they will compete in the IHSWCA State Duals Jan. 6 at Franklin.
