Swimmers sweep Arabians

The New Palestine boys and girls swimming and diving teams swept Pendleton Heights Tuesday, with the Dragons boys winning 125-60 and the girls winning 103-83. The Dragons boys won nine events, while the girls won seven. Winners for the Dragons boys were Dontae Thompson in the 200 freestyle (2:00.33) and 100 freestyle (52.44), Jake Myers in the 200 IM (2:14.49), Aidan Stephens in diving (187.65), Dawson Lynch in the 100 butterfly (58.48), James Watson in the 500 freestyle (5:30.28) and Aidan Kingery in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.32). The Dragons won two of the three relays. Reese Cox, Kingery, Watson and Liam Fuller won the 200 medley relay (1:48.87). Lynch, Ashton Turner, Watson and Thompson won the 400 free relay (3:37.92). Turner, Kingery, Fuller and Thompson were second in the 200 free relay. Also finishing second were Karter McNeil in the 200 freestyle, Blake Hurst in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Lynch in the 50 freestyle, Cade Rodgers in diving, Cox in the 100 butterfly, Turner in the 100 freestyle and Luke Bartusek in the 500 freestyle Winners for the Dragons girls were Sullie Leavell in the 50 freestyle (25.87) and 100 freestyle (1:07.27), Lauren Appleby in diving (142.20), Adrianna Huston in the 100 freestyle (57.73) and Lillie Abernathy in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.02). Rachel Hamilton, Leavell, Chloe Siler and Huston won the 200 free relay (1:48.11). Leavell, Siler, Abernathy and Huston won the 400 free relay (3:56.02). Finishing second were Chloe Siler in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Katie Kelley in diving, Rachel Hamilton in the 200 IM, Huston in the 50 freestyle and the 200 medley relay of Emma Snyder, Madi Bard, Lillie Abernathy and Emily Appleby. The Dragons girls are now 6-1 on the season, while the boys are 5-0. They next compete Thursday at home against New Castle.
