Girls wrestling has four champs at Lebanon

The New Palestine girls wrestling team had four individual champions at Saturday's Lebanon invitational. The Dragons tallied 167 points to finish second out of 55 schools. Penn won with 361 points. Sydney DeLois won the title at 125, going 4-0 on the day. She won with four falls, with her longest match going 1:39. She pinned Lafayette Jeff's Verna Hernandez in 1:16 in the final. At 130, Ezra Wagner won the title, going 4-0. She also won with four falls, all in the first period. In the championship match, she pinned Lafayette Jeff's Michelle Perez-Ahautl in 1:47. At 135, June Wagner-Gilbert won the title, going 4-0. She had to go into overtime to win her second-round match, but won her other three by fall. She pinned Perry Meridian's Bella Osterhoubt in 3:40 in the final. At 145, Ella Morris went 4-0 to win the title. She had a 30-second fall and a 14-3 major decision in her first two matches, then won a 4-2 decision in the semifinal. In the final, she pinned Perry Meridian's Enya Sandavol in 1:56. Also placing were Madisyn Covington, who was fifth at 140; Carmie Kelle, who was sixth at 135; and Julia Champ, who was seventh at 155. The Dragons are next in action Thursday with a dual match at Franklin Central.
