CC teams sixth, seventh at Rushville

The New Palestine cross country teams competed Saturday at the Rushville Invitational. The Dragons boys finished sixth of 10 teams, while the girls were seventh of nine in the large-school division. The Dragons boys tallied 159 places. Mt. Vernon (22), Richmond (91) and Whiteland (96) took the top three spots. East Central (112) and Rushville (129) were also ahead of the Dragons. NP finished ahead of Batesville (164), Lawrenceburg (213), Connersville (238) and New Castle (258). Cody Crawmer led the Dragons with a 24th-place finish (18:23.8). Gavin Smith finished 25th (18:25.0), Jacob Cooper 31st (18:48.5), Hayden Taylor 50th (19:49) and Sam Ragsdale 56th (20:02). The Dragons girls tallied 176 places to finish seventh. East Central won the event with 32 places. Batesville (72) and Mt. Vernon (81) rounded out the top three. Whiteland (125), New Castle (128) and Richmond (131) also finished ahead of the Dragons. The Dragons beat Rushville (212) and Randolph Southern (219). Courtney Study led the Dragons with a 17th-place finish (21:40.3). Alexis Baynes was 36th (23:03.9), Cami Massari 46th (23:50.0), Heidi Bloomer 59th (24:43.0) and Amelia Stone 61st (25:04.8). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 3 in the Marion Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University.
