Swimmers sweep Marauders

The New Palestine boys and girls swimming and diving teams swept Mt. Vernon Tuesday at MV, with the Dragons girls winning 102-83 and the boys posting a 113-67 victory. Winners for the Dragons girls were Adrianna Huston in the 200 freestyle (2:11.67), Chloe Siler in the 50 freestyle (26.11), Lillie Abernathy in the 100 butterfly (1:07.51), Ireland Armstrong in the 500 freestyle (6:30.06) and the 200 free relay of Sullie Leavell, Abernathy, Huston and Siler (1:49.13). Individuals finishing second for the Dragons girls were Abernathy in the 200 freestyle, Sullie Leavell in the 200 IM, Isabelle Singer in the 200 butterfly, Huston in the 100 freestyle, Rachel Hamilton in the 100 backstroke and Piper Schaefer in the 100 breaststroke, Winners for the Dragons boys were James Watson in the 200 freestyle (2:01.10) Dontae Thompson in the 50 freestyle (23.62), Aidan Stephens in diving (179.90), Dawson Lynch in the 100 backstroke (57.77), Blake Hurst in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.92), the 200 medley relay of Lynch, Aidan Kingery, Liam Fuller and Thompson (1:48.18) and the 200 free relay of Watson, Fuller, Ashton Turner and Thompson (1:37.09). Individuals finishing second for the Dragons boys were Jake Myers in the 200 freestyle, Reese Cox in the 200 IM,, Cade Rodgers in diving, Lynch in the 100 butterfly, Thompson in the 100 freestyle and Kingery in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons girls are now 5-1 on the season and the boys are 4-0. Both teams are next in action Saturday at the East Central Relays.
