Girls wrestlers place six at Penn

The New Palestine girls wrestling team had a strong day at the Sarah Hildebrandt Invitational at Penn, placing four wrestlers. At 145, Ella Morris placed first, winning her first match by fall, her second by a 9-0 major decision and the championship match by a 13-9 decision over Mishawaka's Desiree Couve. At 125, Olivia Lemus placed third, going 3-1 on the day and winning with two falls and a major decision. At 135, June Wagner-Gilbert finished third. She won with two falls to get to the semifinals, and then won her third-place match. Madisyn Covington finished fourth at 140 and Ezra Wagner fifth at 130, going 4-1 on the day. At 145, Lillian Kissel finished third in the JV bracket. The Dragons are next in action Wednesday with a dual meet at Greenfield-Central.
