Swim teams sweep Falcons

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams swept Perry Meridian Thursday in a dual meet at the NPHS Natatorium. The Dragons girls won 109-76, while the boys won 101-84. Winners for the Dragons girls were Lillie Abernathy in the 200 IM (2:33.06) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.83), Sullie Leavell in the 50 freestyle (25.99), Chloe Siler in the 100 butterfly (1:07.90), Adrianna Huston in the 500 freestyle (6:00.82), Also winning were the 200 medley relay of Rachel Hamilton, Abernathy, Siler and Emma Snyder (2:03.01), the 200 free relay of Siler, Abernathy, Leavell and Huston (1:47.46) and the 400 free relay of Leavell, Cadyn Brown, Hamilton and Huston (4:10.11). Finishing second were Hamilton in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Leavell in the 500 freestyle and Snyder in the 100 backstroke, Winners for the Dragons boys were Jake Myers in the 200 IM (2:17.99), James Watson in the 500 freestyle (5:30.44) and Aidan Kingery in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.96). Also winning were the 200 medley relay of Reese Cox, Blake Hurst, James Watson and Liam Fuller (1:47.98), the 200 free relay of Ashton Turner, Dontae Thompson, Liam Fuller and Dawson Lynch (1:35.44) and the 400 free relay of Lynch, Watson, Turner and Thompson (3:37.05). Finishing second were Lynch in the 200 freestyle, Blake Hurst in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Thompson in the 50 freestyle, Aidan Stephens in diving, Cox in the 100 butterfly, Karter McNeil in the 100 freestyle. The Dragons girls are now 4-1 on the season, while the boys are 3-0. Both teams are next in action Tuesday at Mt. Vernon.
