June Wagner-Gilbert won her third individual tournament title of the season Saturday, winning the 144 weight class at The Gobbler invitational at Southport. The Dragons finished 1-2 at 144, as Wagner-Gilbert decisioned teammate Ella Morris in the championship match 6-1. Wagner-Gilbert advanced with a 4-0 decision in the first round, followed by three falls. Morris won with three falls and then a 7-4 decision in the semifinal. The Dragons finished fourth out of 43 teams with 99 points. Franklin Central (137.5), Franklin (134) and Southport (131) took the top three spots. At 134, Ezra Wagner went 4-1 with four falls to finish third. At 165, Julia Champ finished fourth, advancing to the semifinals with two falls and a major decision before dropping her last two matches. Also placing for the Dragons were Elizabeth Champ at 152 (7th), Miranda Laroche at 205 (7th), Audrey Kirlin at 131 (8th), Jillian Champ at 139 (9th), Lillian Kissel at 152 (9th), Samantha Neidlinger at 99 (11th) and Olivia Lemus at 124 (12th). The Dragons are next in action Dec. 2 in the Sarah Hildebrandt Invitational at Penn High School in Mishawaka.
