CC girls sixth, boys ninth at Pendleton Heights

The New Palestine cross country teams had a solid run at Wednesday's Pendleton Heights Arabian Roundup. The Dragons girls finished sixth among 12 teams with 136 places, while the boys were ninth of 14 teams with 206 places. Courtney Study led the Dragons girls with a seventh-place finish, running the 5K course in 21:40.01. Cami Massari was 30th (23:53.76) and Heidi Bloomer 31st (24:10.76). Edie Schwarb placed 36th (24:25.54) and Alexis Baynes 42nd (25:03.63). Mt. Vernon won with 53 places, beating Yorktown (87) and Pendleton Heights (94). New Castle (99) and Monroe Central (116) also finished ahead of the Dragons. NP was 35 places ahead of seventh-place Blue River (171). In the boys race, the Dragons placed ninth. Mt. Vernon won with 52 places, while Wapahani tallied 72 and Greenfield-Central 89 to take the top three spots. The Dragons finished two places back of seventh-place Cowan and tied Blue River for eighth, but the Vikings won the tiebraeker on the sixth runner's place. The Dragons were 94 places ahead of 10th-place Lapel. Gavin Smith led the Dragons with a 32nd-place finish (19:01.96). Jacob Collins was 39th (19:18.71), Jacob Cooper 45th (19:26.52), Cody Crawmer 52nd (19:45.24) and Isaac Poetz 56th (19:57.44). Both Dragons JV teams finished second.
