The 23rd-ranked New Palestine boys tennis team had to survive several tight matches Thursday, but the Dragons swept the singles to beat Greenfield-Central 3-2 and clinch the 20th boys tennis sectional title in school history. The Dragons improved to 17-1 on the season and won their 15th straight match. It was their second sectional title in three years. Carson Rush won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. Tyler Walter posted a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 2, while Brock Hehmann won by a break in each set to clinch the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 3. Both doubles had tight matches in defeat. Jackson Clark/Davis Harrison fell 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 at No. 1, while Brady Groce/Jack Hehmann fell 7-6(6), 6-2 at No. 2. The Dragons advance to next week's Mt. Vernon regional, where they will face New Castle in Tuesday's semifinal. Hamilton Southeastern and Centerville are the other regional participants.
