The New Palestine boys soccer team scored two goals four minutes apart in the second half to blank Franklin 2-0 Tuesday on Senior Night. The Dragons honored their five senior players and two managers prior to the game, and then dominated possession and chances throughout the game. They broke through in the 61st minute. Zach Holmes brought the ball up the right side and whipped in a cross to the center of the goalmouth. Franklin's goalkeeper stopped a redirection from point-blank range, but the rebound fell to Hudson Hughes on the far side. Hughes ripped a shot into the back of the net to put the Dragons on the board. Four minutes later, Holmes sent a long ball from the midfield to the top of the box. Tyler Patterson ran onto it and fired a shot through the Franklin goalkeeper to make it 2-0 in the 65th minute. The Dragons were able to see out the victory. Camden Brown made one save and earned the clean sheet. The Dragons are now 7-8 on the season and have won six straight games. They finish the regular season Thursday at Pendleton Heights. The Dragons won a JV half 5-2. Levi Buck scored twice for the Dragons.
