New Palestine High School

The New Palestine girls cross country team had six All-Conference runners as it ran to the Hoosier Heritage Conference championship. The Dragons tallied 43 places to beat Greenfield-Central (49), Mt. Vernon (89), Yorktown (98), Pendleton Heights (110) and Delta (119). Hailey Pardieck finished as the conference runner-up, finishing with the second-best 5K time in school history at 18:30.1. Elena Daugherty finished eighth (19:46.7), Adi Smith 10th (20:20.1), Brynn Richey 11th (20:41.2) and Willa Novotny 12th (20:48.3). Bre Journay was the Dragons' sixth runner, and was also All-Conference, placing 13th in 20:53.4. She and seventh runner Gwen Melby (16th, 21:07.4) provided valuable points for the Dragons, as Journay placed ahead of both G-C's fourth and fifth runner, and Melby also ahead of the Cougars' fifth runner. The Dragons boys finished third with 91 places. They finished behind Yorktown (34) and Greenfield-Central (60). They finished ahead of Mt. Vernon (93), Pendleton Heights (114) and Delta (140). The Dragons had two All-Conference runners. Mike Bauer finished third (15:52.2) and Carson Cooper 12th (16:43.9). Gabe Silvey was 23rd (17:26.9), Cody Lowe 26th (17:45.4) and Zion Koch 27th (17:48.5). The Dragons next compete Oct. 3 in the Nike Town Twilight meet at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute.
