The New Palestine girls soccer team rallied late, but conceded a goal late in extra time Wednesday in a 3-2 loss to Pendleton Heights. The Dragons rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 to send the game to extra time. They conceded a goal in the 24th minute on a long ball ahead creating a footrace for the PH striker and the defense. She was able to free herself and score 1v1 with the keeper. The Dragons equalized in the 37th minute, as Reese Davison stepped into a shot from the top corner of the box and buried it far-post. Nora Martin nearly gave the Dragons the lead, as she got a quick look off in the middle of the box, but it went just high in the 62nd minute. Three minutes later, another long ball created a 1v1 situation and led to a PH goal to give the Arabians the lead. In the 75th minute, Martin equalized for the Dragons, taking a ball played across the box by Davison and sending it back toward goal from the left side. It deflected in on the near post. That sent the game to extra time, where the Arabians again scored on a long ball played forward in the 12th of 14 minutes of extra time. The Dragons are now 7-7 on the season and finish conference play with a 2-3 record. They next play Saturday at Plainfield. The Dragons JV played to a 0-0 draw in a 40-minute game.
