The New Palestine boys soccer team posted a thrilling 1-0 extra-time victory over Greenfield-Central Thursday night, Mark Everett converted a penalty kick in the 91st minute to provide the winning margin. Noah Diaz De Leon drew the foul, as he beat a defender and carried the ball inside the 18. As he made a move, he was tripped. Everett then beat the keeper to the post with his shot. The Dragons controlled play throughout many of the 94 minutes of action in a physical, intense game. They doubled G-C up on shots. Their best chance in regulation came midway through the first half, when Hudson Hughes dribbled into the box and fired a shot towards the upper corner that went just high. Camden Brown had the clean sheet in goal for the Dragons. With the victory, the Dragons took possession of two traveling trophies. The Rob Thomas Cup is the traveling trophy for the three Hancock County schools, which the Dragons claimed earlier this season with a victory at Mt. Vernon. They also took possession of the HHC's traveling Victory Bell trophy. The Dragons are now 4-8 after their third straight victory, and are 2-1 in HHC play. They next play Saturday afternoon against Delta.
