Deering finishes runner-up in HHC, leading team to season-best score

Lauren Deering finished second in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet, leading the New Palestine girls golf team to a fourth-place finish in the conference. Deering shot a one-over par 72 to finish second. She finished three strokes back of champion Ressie Lemmon of Mt. Vernon, and was five strokes ahead of the third-place finisher. The Dragons shot a season-best 372. Yorktown won the title with a 320, with Mt. Vernon second (343) and Delta third (358). The Dragons finished ahead of Greenfield-Central (406) and Pendleton Heights (421). In addition to Deering's 72, Carlee Poorbaugh shot a 95, Tessa Mohr 99 and Aubree Amback 106. Jozlynn Hart's 108 was the fifth score. The Dragons are next in action Monday at The Links against Pendleton Heights.
