New Palestine High School

The New Palestine cross country teams swept both the team and individual honors in Saturday's Whiteland Invitational. Both Dragons boys and girls teams won the team titles, while Mike Bauer and Hailey Pardieck won the individual titles. The Dragons boys tallied 36 places to win an eight-team event. Whiteland (60) was second, with Indy Genesis (91) and Greenwood (92) rounding out the top four. The Dragons had four runners in the top 10. Bauer's time of 16:14.79 won the race by 18 seconds. Gabe Silvey was sixth (17:14.52), Carson Cooper seventh (17:36.53), Micah Jones ninth (17:54.81) and Cody Lowe 13th (18:09.48). The Dragons girls had six top 10 finishers and won with 19 places. Whiteland (50) was second and Indy Genesis (93) third among six complete teams. Pardieck won in 19:22.15, besting the field by a full minute. Elena Daugherty was second (20:22.75). Adi Smith placed fifth (21:24.64), Bre Journay eighth (21:43.14) and Mary Bauer ninth (21:44.65). Willa Novotny was 10th in 21:46.69, and Gwen Melby 11th in 21:50.22 as the Dragons' sixth and seventh runners. The Dragons next compete Sept. 19 in the Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational.
