CC teams win Dragon Invitational

The New Palestine cross country teams swept their first home meet in five years Saturday, as they both won the Dragon Invitational. Dragons Courtney Study and Jake Cooper both won the individual championships to lead their teams to victories. The Dragons boys scored 36 places to beat Cascade (40), Shelbyville 963) and Beech Grove (100). Betheesda Christian and Lutheran were incomplete. Cooper won the race with a time of 17:23.35. Gavin Smith was fifth (18:18.35), Jacob Collins ninth (18:57.30), Sam Ragsdale 10th (19:01.67) and Hayden Flanagan 15th (19:37.63). The Dragons girls won with 27 places, beating Shelbyville (59), Beech Grove (69) and Cascade (73). Bethesda Christian and Lutheran were incomplete. Study's winning time was 21:01.50. Amelia Stone finished fifth (22:09.44), Cami Massari sixth (22:34.31), Addison Uhl seventh (22:43.90) and Heidi Bloomer 14th (24:15.53). The Dragons next compete in the Oct. 14 sectional at Mt. Vernon.
