The New Palestine girls soccer team began a busy week Monday with a 1-1 home draw against Westfield. The Dragons struck first, as Mia Knoop fed a streaking Vivian Miller, who sent a cross to Gabrielle Brown for the finish. It was Brown's first varsity goal. Westfield tied the game before halftime. The two teams battled back and forth in the second half, but their defenses and goalkeepers held the upper hand. Dragons' goalkeeper Grace Hasenkamp made an incredible save with four minutes left to preserve the draw. Allie Blum earned the team's hard hat award for her strong play. The Dragons JV dropped a 4-0 decision. The Dragons (2-1-1) are back home Tuesday against Southport, with a 6 p.m. JV kickoff.
