Senior Lauren Deering finished second overall, leading the New Palestine girls golf team to a third-place finish at Saturday's eight-team New Palestine Invitational at The Links. The Dragons shot 397, finishing behind Mt. Vernon (355) and Westfield (371). The Dragons were one stroke ahead of fourth-place Hamilton Heights (398). The New Palestine White team finished seventh with a score of 476. Deering shot a three-over par 75 to lead the Dragons and finish second in the field. Mt. Vernon's Ressie Lemmon won the individual title with a 71. Carlee Poorbaugh shot 104, Aubree Amback 108 and Tessa Mohr 110 for the Dragons. Jozlynn Hart's 111 was the fifth score. For the NP White team, Libby Hunter led the Dragons with a 114. Mallory Mohr shot 115, Avery Montani 122 and Elise Weimer 125. Haidyn Lavish's 138 was the fifth score. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at Purgatory GC against Fishers.
